Summer School
Computer Engineering students who wish to take summer courses at other universities may take courses that are not offered in our department from other institutions. For common courses offered by other departments at our university, you are required to take them from your own university as per the regulations. Students who wish to attend summer school at other universities must fill out the attached petition form. (In the petition form, you should list the course information from your university curriculum in the "Equivalent Course" section and the information for the course you wish to take from the other university in the "Equivalent Course at the Other University" section).
You need to send:
- The completed petition form,- Your transcript,
- Course descriptions for the course(s) you intend to take from the other university,
- The academic calendar for the summer school of the other university, and
- The course syllabus from the other university to your advisor's email address.
Once you receive approval from your advisor, you must submit the originals of the above documents to the department chair. The suitability of the courses will be approved by a committee decision.
According to the undergraduate education and examination regulations, you may take up to 5 courses, with a maximum of 32 hours per week. Important articles are noted below. Once you send the email, your application will be reviewed, and you will be informed. Subsequently, you must submit a signed copy of your petition to our department either by courier or in person. For further information, please contact your advisor via their email addresses.
Article 10-(2): During summer school, a student may take a maximum of 5 courses, not exceeding the total weekly 16 credit hours (32 hours per week during summer school). It is suitable for students to take only one practical course that exceeds 16 hours.
(3): A student may benefit from the summer school courses offered by the university within the framework of the principles outlined in the second paragraph of this article as much as they wish. If attending a summer school at another higher education institution, a student may take up to 20% of the total credits required for graduation throughout their academic life.
Article 5-(8): To take courses from a higher semester and/or year, students without any repeated courses and with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.00 can take up to 10 ECTS from upper semester/year courses without prerequisites in a semester/year, and a maximum of 16 ECTS during summer school.---This means you can take a maximum of 16 ECTS credits during summer school.
Article 6:f) Regardless of which higher education institution or level the exempted course was taken from, whether it is compulsory or elective, it is examined based on course content alignment/sufficiency, credits, and department/program equivalence.
g) When evaluating course credits, courses with up to four credits may have a one-credit variance, and courses with five or more credits may have a two-credit variance.
Explanation for (g): For courses in our department with an ECTS of up to 4, the ECTS of the course you wish to transfer should be no more than one credit less; for courses with an ECTS of 5 or more, it can be up to two credits less. For example, if a course in our department has an ECTS of 4, the ECTS of the course you want to transfer must be at least 3; 2 would not be accepted. If a course in our department has an ECTS of 6, the transferred course must have at least an ECTS of 4; 3 would not be accepted, but 4, 5, or 6 and above would be accepted.
