General Information About Your Department or Program:
- History: The Computer Engineering Department at Iğdır University was established to keep up with innovative and technological advancements. The department began operations in 2011 with the aim of training qualified engineers for Turkey’s rapidly growing technology sector and admitted its first students in 2019.
- Program Outcomes: Graduates of the Computer Engineering Department gain the following knowledge, skills, and competencies:
- These program outcomes are aligned with industry needs, ensuring that students graduate well-prepared for the professional world.
- Language / Type of Education: The language of instruction in the Computer Engineering Department is Turkish. The program is conducted as formal education, offering in-person classes to students. The program is open to international students, with cultural adaptation programs available for those coming from different countries. In the coming years, it is planned to offer courses in English through international collaboration projects..
- Infrastructure Facilities: The department has a computer laboratory.
- Mastery of fundamental engineering principles.
- Advanced knowledge of programming languages and software development processes.

Double Major/ Minor Major Programs
Double Major Program Application Requirements
- Students can apply in the required classes and semesters of their major program. (Students can apply in the following semesters for major diploma programs: *2 years (excluding preparatory class), *3rd, 4th and 5th semesters of 4-year diploma programs, *3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th semesters of 5-year diploma programs)
- The GPA must be at least 2.72.

The student must be in the top 20% of their class in their major program.
- Students outside the top 20% can also apply if they have a score equal to or higher than the minimum score required for the program they are applying to.
- They must have passed all their courses up to the semester they are applying for.
- In programs that admit students based on aptitude tests, success in the aptitude test is also required.
- Only one double major program (or minor) can be enrolled in at a time.
Graduation Criteria

The major GPA must be at least 2.72.
- It may drop to 2.50 once; if it drops a second time, the registration will be cancelled.
- A double major diploma is only awarded upon graduation from the major program.
- A minimum of 240 ECTS credits must be completed for a bachelor's degree, and a minimum of 120 ECTS credits for an associate degree.
- Students who do not take courses from the Double Major Program for two consecutive semesters will be cancelled.
- Students who complete their major but cannot complete their double major are given an additional period equal to the maximum study period.
Minor Program Application Requirements

Students can apply at the earliest at the beginning of the 3rd semester and at the latest at the beginning of the 6th semester.
- For annual programs, applications can be submitted in the 2nd and 3rd years.
- Applicants must have a GPA of at least 2.50.
- They must have successfully completed all credit-bearing courses up to the semester they are applying for.
- Once a registration to the minor program is cancelled, it is not possible to register again.
Graduation Criteria
- The student's major GPA must be at least 2.29; otherwise, their minor registration will be cancelled.
- A minimum of 30 ECTS credits must be taken for the minor program.
- A certificate is awarded for completing a minor program; no diploma is given.
- Minor courses do not affect the major; separate transcripts are issued.
- Students who complete their main degree but fail to complete their minor program are given a maximum of two additional semesters.
- Students who do not take courses for two consecutive semesters will have their minor program registration cancelled.
